Wow: mountains that invite you to discover them with their quiet, graceful aura and do not even begin to reveal the breathtaking views that await you when you set off. On foot, with a rucksack and poles, or by bike.
The crystal-clear mountain lakes and fresh streams will quickly refresh tired feet, while lush green forests show off their best side like something from a fairytale. Sometimes you can enjoy a game of hide-and-seek with the family, sometimes go hunting for mushrooms and berries. We'll be happy to tell you all about the best places to do so, not to mention the most rewarding tours of our local mountains – with recommendations for places to stop off, of course!
Summer here truly has plenty to offer. Even the chirping of the birds in the morning tells us that nature is at its finest here. Dewy grass that tickles between your toes as you walk barefoot across the meadows, or the fresh air that you inhale here, breath after breath.
There are the Lienz Dolomites to the north and the Gailtal Valley and the Carnic Alps to the south – in between lies our valley, authentic and in many cases still completely unspoilt. The southern side of the Alps offers magnificent summers with pleasant temperatures and a slightly Mediterranean ambience, while the local area offers perfect time-out opportunities for young and old alike:
